Not sure what vulcanized fiberboard adds to the sound over, say, wood or cardboard, but this product's cheap enough and durable. Works easily, tends to "melt" near the edges when using a drill or electric saw at high speeds but this is easily removed with an XActo knife or sanding. Does sometimes come with a "bend" in it that's a bit irritating, but nothing unusable.

Milled, drilled and tapped flawlessly! Was just what I needed to make cigar box bobbins and custom winds.

I've been using the .094". Easy to trim and drill. Makes a nice old school bobbin. I'm glad Stewmac carries this and will buy it repeatedly.

I've used this flatwork material for 6 Jazz Bass style pickup bobbins. It's easy to cut and keeps its shape nicely. The sheets are rather small, but otherwise it's a great product.

I use a lot of this fiberboard, especially the .094 for bobbin flatwork pieces for Charlie Christian style pickups I make. I cut and shape the fiberboard using hand tools, but it is pretty easy to work with. Great product.

its a little curved, which makes cutting it a little tricky. But once its cut to correct size, it does what its meant to do. You can also file the edges easily if you need to.
