Golden Age Parsons Street Overwound Humbuckers

About This Item

You asked for 'em! Introducing the overwound versions of our Parsons Street humbuckers, wound to 9.5K ohms for higher output punch.

We named these exceptional humbuckers after the famous Kalamazoo address where the holy grail of pickups, the legendary P.A.F. (Patent Applied For), was born.

True vintage sound, in a stronger dose!
Sometimes those 1950s PAFs were accidentally overwound at the factory, and when you find one of those rare ones, it has a little extra bite to its sound. To capture that tone, we keep winding these hot versions until we get a DC resistance of 9.5K ohms.

Golden Age Parsons Street Hot Humbuckers vintage specs:
  • Nickel-silver cover for tone transparency
  • Original 1.97" (50.04mm) polepiece spacing
  • Plain enameled AWG42 coil wire
  • Black paper coil tape
  • Wood spacer
  • Choice of Alnico 2 or Alnico 5 magnet
  • Nickel-silver baseplate
  • Single-conductor braided shield output wire
    Your choice of original-style magnets:
  • Alnico 2 for warm tone with smooth highs and a soft bottom response.
  • Alnico 5 produces a clear tone with more pronounced highs and a tighter low end. (Original P.A.F.s contained Alnico 2, 3 and 5 magnets at various times.)

Awesome vintage sounding pickups

By

Verified Buyer

Replaced the Gibson Burstbuckers in my Custom Shop 339 and what a difference! The Burstbuckers sounded kind of wimpy and bright. Not enough bite for me. These Golden Age Parsons (overwound) sound absolutely great! I was a little skeptical since they're so cheap compared to other big name brands and expensive boutique pups but I took a chance and am really really glad I did. No need to spend hundreds of $$$ on fancy name brands. These are just as good or BETTER!

Great tone, but...

I’ve purchased a few of these because I love 5he sound but the covers are pressed on with no wax or tape or silicone between the pickup and the cover. They squeal like crazy! Had to take each one apart, pot it, secure the cover to the bobbin, re-solder. Still, worth the $35 each!

Loud and Proud!

I have a cheep Les Paul Studio that had no harness (cheep board) and was not shielded. I installed a pre-wired harness and at the same time replaced both pickups with one of each of these pickups. The sound is much nicer and LOUDER!. Very easy if you can solder. Not that hard to do. I highly recommend!

Have not installed it yet. Hopefully it will sound as good as it looks. Workmanship and finish are beautiful. It reads 9.36k on my meter. Perfect.

My 8th Set

I found these looking for alternatives to $300 for a set of Gibsons. These sound and play just like the originals. What more could you want? I tell everyone that watches my You Tube Channel Davesintexas to buy a set or at least check out the website to see how to save almost $200 dollars and get great tone.

It sounds as good as I hoped it would! Popped off the cover and potted it for a screaming tone with no microphonics!! It loves an overdriven Marshall for those of you who dig that...

Amazing!!!

Replaced the Burstbucker Pros in my Gibson LP Standard with one of these (Alnico 2) in the Bridge and an Alnico 5 regular (not overwound) in the Neck position. I expected some improvement as I was not happy with the thin tone, especially in the Bridge position, of the Gibson Burstbucker Pros. But I was blown away with how much it improved my tone!!! These pups are simply amazing. Fat, complex, singing, perfect PAF tone. Mountains of PAF tone!! When you consider that the Gibson pups sell for over $200 and they are supposed to be top of the line, it's just incredible the difference these made. It makes the Burstbuckers nothing less than a pile of junk. I cant believe that Gibson would put something like those junky Burstbucker Pros in such a fine guitar when for far less than half the price these pickups blow them away! I can't say enough about the difference these pups have made to the tone of my guitar. It's simply made it come alive and sound like I've always wanted it to, and knew it could.
